After the laboratory has completed an analysis order, you can download its formatted analysis report or export the analysis results for use outside Megalab.

Analysis reports are also sent by email when they're released by the laboratory. You can use Megalab to access the report again, view previous reports or export the result data in other formats.

Reports and result data are only available for orders with the status Done.

You can download the results in three ways:

download the PDF analysis report or result data for one completed order from the Orders list
use Export orders to export result data for selected completed orders or choose a file format for one order
use Bulk download orders to export result data for all completed orders matching a date range, sample type and one or more distributors

You can also open a completed order and select Last issued report to view and save its PDF analysis report.

The PDF is the formatted analysis report produced from the laboratory results. CSV, XLSX and XML files contain the analysis results together with related order, customer and sample information in a data format.

Before you start

Before downloading reports or exporting result data, note that:

reports and result data are only available for orders with the status Done
the included analysis results and columns depend on the sample type and analyses completed by the laboratory
in CSV and XLSX files, each analysed sample is shown in a separate row
the formatted PDF analysis report is only available for an individual completed order
the available formats and restrictions depend on the download method you use

Choose the format that suits how you want to use the data:

CSV contains the analysis results and related order and sample information in a comma-separated text file. It can be opened in spreadsheet software or imported into another system.
XLSX contains the same analysis results and related information in an Excel workbook with the data arranged in separate columns.
XML contains the analysis results and related information in a structured format generally used for transferring data between systems.
PDF is the formatted laboratory analysis report intended for viewing, saving or printing.

CSV, XLSX and XML files are data exports rather than formatted copies of the PDF analysis report.

The CSV, XLSX and XML files downloaded for an individual order contain the same data as the corresponding formats created using Export orders. Bulk download orders uses the same formats to combine the data for all completed orders matching your selections.

The PDF report presents the analysis results in a formatted report. It's only available when downloading files for an individual order.

Download the report or result data for one order

You can access the PDF analysis report directly from the Orders list or from within the completed order.

Use the download icon in the Orders list when you also want the option to download the result data as CSV, XLSX or XML.

Download from the Orders list

The download icon is available directly in the Orders list for each order with the status Done. You don't need to select Export orders first.

Log in to Megalab.
Select Orders from the left navigation bar.
Find the relevant order with the status Done.
Select the download icon at the end of the order row.
Choose what you want to download:
- Download PDF report to download the formatted analysis report
- Download CSV summary to download the order, sample and analysis data as a CSV file
- Download Xlsx summary to download the same order, sample and analysis data as an Excel workbook
- Download Xml report to download the same order, sample and analysis data as a structured XML file
Follow your browser or device prompts to save or open the file.

Download the PDF report from within the order

Use this option when you've already opened the completed order or want to review its details before opening the report.

Select Orders from the left navigation bar.
Find the relevant order with the status Done.
Select the arrow at the end of the order row to open the order.
Select Last issued report.
The PDF analysis report opens in your browser. Use the browser's download option to save it to your device.

Last issued report opens the laboratory's issued PDF analysis report. It isn't the order summary used before sending samples.

Use Export orders to choose specific completed orders. Use Bulk download orders to download all completed orders matching a set of filters.

Export result data for selected orders

When exporting selected orders:

only orders with the status Done are available

Bulk download result data

Use Bulk download orders to download all completed orders matching your selections without choosing individual orders from the Orders list.

Only orders with the status Done are included. You can select the required date range, sample type, file type and distributors before downloading the file.

Log in to Megalab.
Select the download icon from the left navigation bar.

The downloaded file includes all orders with the status Done that match the selected date range, sample type and distributors. Each sample is shown in a separate row in CSV and XLSX files.

Troubleshoot order exports

If the selected orders have different sample types

Orders exported together using Export orders must have the same sample type. If you select orders with different sample types, Megalab displays:

Orders must be from same sample type

Select Cancel selection.
Select the required sample type from the Sample type filter.
Select Export orders again.
Select only orders with that sample type.
Complete the export.

Export orders with another sample type separately.

If you can't export several selected orders as XML

When using Export orders, XML files can only be generated for one selected order at a time. If you select several orders and choose XML, Megalab displays:

Xml report can not be generated for multiple orders

Clear the checkboxes until only one order remains selected.
Select Export 1 as....
Select XML.

To export several selected orders in one file, choose CSV or XLSX instead. Alternatively, use Bulk download orders to download matching completed orders as an XML file.

If a CSV file opens in one column

CSV files use commas to separate the exported values. Depending on your spreadsheet software and regional settings, opening the file directly may show each row in a single column.

You can either:

export the order data as XLSX to open it in separate spreadsheet columns
import the CSV file into your spreadsheet software and select a comma as the delimiter

If an order isn't available for export

Check the order status. Only orders with the status Done can be exported.

Orders with the status Draft, In transit or In the lab aren't available for export because their analyses haven't been completed.

When using Export orders, select Clear all to remove the current filters. Then adjust the From and To dates to make sure the order falls within the selected date range.

When using Bulk download orders, check the selected From and To dates, Sample type and distributors.
